With games related to all the rage (just watch Play-Doh by Emily V. Gordon and Jon M. Chu, Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Paramount’s Transformers franchise), Halloween fans are not served – until now.
Spirit Halloween, the flagship costume and item store with 1,425 locations across North America, partnered with Strike Back Studios, Hideout Pictures and Particular Crowd for a feature-length family film called, you guessed it, “Spirit Halloween.”
Characterized as a family / children’s adventure film, the play stars Christopher Lloyd of “Back to the Future’s” and “She’s All That” star Rachael Leigh Cook, as well as some new faces.
“When a new Spirit Halloween store pops up in a deserted mall, three high school friends who think they’ve gotten over the trick or treatment dare to spend the night locked inside the Halloween night store,” the logline said. “But they soon discover that the store is haunted by an angry evil spirit who possessed the creepy animatronic characters. “The children embark on an exciting and terrifying adventure to survive the night and avoid becoming demon-possessed.”
Lloyd and Cook include Donavan Colan (“Zoe”), Dylan Frankel (“Raven’s Home”), Jaiden Smith (“Blue Bloods”) and Marissa Reyes (“Raven’s Home”)
Marla Gibbs (“El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie”) will also star in the film, which is being directed by David Poag, making his directorial debut. The screenplay was written by Billie Bates.
The shooting of “Spirit Halloween” has now been completed, with the production aiming to be released in October 2022.
One of the reasons I was so attached to the script is that it’s very inspired by some of my favorite kid adventure movies that grew out of ‘The Goonies’, ‘Gremlins’, ‘Monster Squad’ and so many great Amblin Entertainment movies. . Said Noor Ahmed, president of Strike Back Studios.
Ahmed will produce “Spirit Halloween” with Shannon Houchins. Tomanes Yanelevich, Peter Bevan, Mariana Sanjurjo and Clay Epstein are executive producers.
The production, which has secured a commercial with Spirit Halloween, is a collaboration between Hideout Pictures (“Old Henry”) and Latin American original film company WarnerMedia Particular Crowd in collaboration with Film Mode Entertainment (“As They Made Us “).
Strike Back Studios and Hideout Pictures also recently collaborated on “Sleep in My Palm,” starring Tim Blake Nelson, which ended in February.
