He said he found the “point loss excessive,” explaining that he didn’t want to “slam the break for … safety” when off the highway at 70km/h.
He asked his followers for their “thoughts” on fines after wondering if there should be “leeway” when getting off the highway.
“Got a driving ticket from Australia,” he wrote in the Stories post.
“I drove 58km in 50km. $300 and lost points. I mean… thoughts?”
He then added: “FYI. I like rules. Happy to pay the fine.
“I think it’s important to drive safely.
“I never had a ticket! (Oh, except for when I’m about to give birth and use my phone for maps).
“I feel like dropping points is excessive especially when it’s 70 on the highway straight to 50 and I didn’t want to slam at the break (sic) because of safety.”
He later revealed that he was inundated with direct messages from followers.
“I wish I could share a dm with all of you,” he wrote.
“Almost a thousand replies (sic).
“I love hearing people’s opinions. Some are aggressive. No need.
“Opening the conversation is important.
“We can argue without being mean. Only weaken your points when you.
“I don’t take all of this (sic) personally.”
The actress went on to say that she usually “drives like a granny… maybe slower.”
“But the conversation at hand is – should we have a little leeway (sic) when off the highway because you have to slow down,” he wrote.
“What’s ‘reasonable’ (have seen some DMs where you get a $400 fine for removing body parts from the car.
“Those pictures should be your arm on the armrest where the window drops.”
That Pretty Little Liar star goes on to ask if the fines should be higher in the school area (“I think so”), before finishing: “Any other thoughts?”
The Instagram Stories post has since expired and the actress moved on to another drama on Sunday, posting about a broken elevator at a hotel where she was staying with her family.
“The Easter bunny hasn’t come yet because the elevator broke down last night where we were staying and all the shops were closing as soon as we could get out of the building!!,” she wrote, sharing a photo with her two daughters with husband Sean McEwen.
“So we told them that the Easter bunny didn’t seem to like climbing the 7 stairs because his legs hurt from visiting all the kids and at lunch, if we were out he said he would come.
“This is for parents trying to make things work!”
