SAS: Rogue Heroes Trailer | Teaser for the drama of the creator Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders may be out tonight, but creator Steven Knight is not one of those people who will make it long, and the production writer has another show on BBC One and iPlayer later this year.

A new teaser trailer for the upcoming SAS: Rogue Heroes series by the creator of Peaky Blinders has been released by the BBC, offering fans a first look at the drama of World War II starring Connor Swindells, Jack O’Connell and Alfie Allen.

The 30-second clip opens with a voice saying, “We are a band of weirdos, gentlemen and pirates,” and also sets the scene: Cairo, 1941.

Then we hear Swindells’ character ask a recruit why he wants to fight, and he replies, “I just like killing fascists, sir.”

And the trailer manages to fit much more in its short duration, with hints of romance, mystery and one or two big explosions.

We also get glimpses of many of the high profile cast, which includes Dominic West (The Crown), Sofia Boutella (The Mummy) and Jason Watkins (McDonald & Dodds).

There is no indication yet when exactly the sixfold will be shown, other than the fact that it is coming to BBC One and BBC iPlayer sometime in 2022.

Filmed in both the United Kingdom and Morocco, the series is described as a fantastic narrative of “how the largest Special Forces unit in the world, the SAS, was formed under exceptional circumstances in the darkest days of World War II.”

He sees the eccentric young officer David Sterling (Swindels) devise a revolutionary plan to gather the “toughest, most daring and most brilliant soldiers for a small secret unit that will create chaos behind enemy lines.”

And SAS: Rogue Heroes is not Knight’s only forthcoming World War II play – the planned Peaky Blinders film also reportedly explores an “untold” conflict story.

“I know what is going to happen in these stories and it is a kind of untold story that happened in World War II, in which Peakys will be involved,” he explained in an exclusive interview with
