Liza MinnelliHis old friend Michael Feinstein has made some explosive claims about his 2022 appearance Oscar.
Minnelli, 76, takes the stage at the 94th Academy Awards to present the final award of the night – Best Picture – with Lady Gaga. The Hollywood icon was in a wheelchair on stage but also stumbled at his words.
During a recent interview on SiriusXM’s Jess Cagle . ShowFeinstein revealed that Minnelli originally planned to sit in the director’s chair due to problems with his back.

“He was sabotaged,” he told the emcee.
“That’s a bad word to use, but he only agreed to appear at the Oscars if he was going to be in the director’s chair, because he had back problems. He said, ‘I don’t want people to see me limping out there.’ He said, ‘You know, I want to look good. I don’t want people to worry about me.'”
Feinstein continued, revealing that plans had changed at the last minute due to what happened between Will Smith and Chris Rock previously.
“And then literally, five minutes before he continued, when he was sitting in the director’s chair back there, and as every, I think they were all shaken up by everything that had happened before, the stage manager said, ‘Well, he has to be in a wheelchair. ‘ and Liza begged,” he continued.

“He was nervous. I mean, and it made him look like he was insane. And he was so shaken. Can you imagine being suddenly forced to be seen by millions of people in a way that you don’t want to be seen? That’s what happened to him. disappointed with it, that it happened and it didn’t go as agreed.”
Feinstein went on to reassure listeners that Minnelli was actually in good health.

“He’s totally fine and it’s a shame it turned out that way. He’s very disappointed,” she said.
Gaga and Minnelli took to the stage towards the end of the Oscar ceremony on March 27, with Gaga standing comfortably at the side Cabaret star and held her hand.
Minnelli’s appearance was his first public event in a while. For the past few years, Minnelli has avoided public appearances due to ongoing health problems caused by her battle with encephalitis – a viral infection of the brain diagnosed in 2000. Complications from the infection have since affected her mobility, which has led to her current debilitating condition.
However, Minnelli’s Oscar segment with Gaga went well, thanks to Gucci house subtle acts of support and certainty of stars.
“I see,” said Gaga, to which Minnelli replied, “I know, thanks.”
