The upcoming “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series sees two of the big stars from the “Star Wars” prequel return – Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen.
Of course, another name that is an important part of “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” is Liam Neeson as Jedi master Qui-Gon Jinn.
Despite the death of a character in the film, fans have for years hoped Neeson could one day return to the franchise. Speaking with ComicBook.com recently, the actor said he’s open to returning but on one condition:
“Oh, I think so, yes, yes, yes, I think so… if it were a film. Yes, I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to TV, I have to admit. I just love the big screen, you know?
Qui-Gon, I can’t believe it’s been 24 years since we made ‘The Phantom Menace,’ I just can’t believe where the time has gone. It was an amazing experience, shooting that film in London.”
The fate of “Star Wars” on the big screen looks bleak as the Skywalker saga ends. “Star Wars” has now moved to television for its primary delivery format.
The “Obi Wan-Kenobi” series is the next attempt on that front and McGregor recently told EW that he’s rewatching the prequels for the first time since their release in preparation for the Disney+ series:
“It was interesting to see our films because I haven’t seen them since they came out, not at all. So it was cool to see and interesting to watch them and enjoy them without all the noise that was around when they came out.”
“Obi-Wan Kenobi” will premiere on Disney+ on May 27.
