Morbius breaks the Box Office record in the worst way

Sony Pictures’ Morbius broke a ticket record for the second weekend in theaters, but not necessarily in the good sense.

According to Forbes, Morbius brought in $ 2.95 million at the start of the second weekend at the domestic box office, down a record 83% from last Friday. Despite the fewer than the astral numbers, Morbius earned $ 17.1 million in the first Friday from 4,268 theaters, including $ 5.7 million made in Thursday’s preview. That led to about $ 40 million in domestic film projections for Jared Leto, slightly more than the $ 39 million he won in North America. This is despite Sony’s own predictions that Morbius would earn a total of $ 33 million. By comparison, Sony’s previous installment in the Spider-Man universe, Venom: Let There Be Carnageearned $ 11.6 million in its previews.

While Morbius had a steady opening weekend, this was despite the overwhelmingly negative early reviews from critics, with many noting the film’s “messy” plot and CGI “visual confusion” as the film’s biggest problems. However, many noted MorbiusThe post-credit scenes are also a major issue, with one critic calling them “some of the worst post-concert scenes you’ve ever seen.” However, many praised Matt Smith’s strong performance as a competitor as well as the film’s response to the horror genre. Currently, Morbius has a “rotten” rating of 17% on aggregate review site Rotten Tomatoes, although it has an overall audience rating of 67%.
