Liz Sheridan, who played Jerry’s mother in Seinfeld, dies aged 93 | Seinfeld

Jerry Seinfeld has paid tribute to “TV’s best mom” Liz Sheridan, who has died aged 93.

The US comedian, who starred alongside Sheridan in his eponymous sitcom Seinfeld, said he was lucky to have known the actress.

Sheridan died in his sleep of natural causes, five days after his birthday on April 10, said his longtime friend and representative Amanda Hendon.

She played Seinfeld’s doting mother Helen in the popular comedy.

“Liz has always been the sweetest and best TV mom a boy could hope for,” Seinfeld wrote on Twitter, sharing a photo of the couple.

Sheridan died two weeks after Estelle Harris, who played George’s mother on the show.

In addition to her acclaimed role in Seinfeld, Sheridan has also had a prolific stage career.

He appeared on Broadway in plays and musicals during the 1970s including Happy End with Meryl Streep and Ballroom.
