Kochie reveals the special reason he won’t be at Sunrise for three weeks

Sunrise host David “Kochie” Koch said goodbye to his co-stars as he flew overseas for a special family event.

The breakfast TV presenter told viewers on Thursday that he was heading to London for his youngest daughter’s wedding.

The Channel 7 star will be absent from our screens for three weeks while he and his extended family celebrate in the UK.

“Georgie is getting married, the last of four, so it’s going to be fine,” he said at the end of the show.

Kochie said she would share the house with her future daughter-in-law, whom she has yet to meet, for a week before Georgie tied the knot with her German partner, Alex.

“We all shared a house with him and his parents before the wedding and we had never met,” the 66-year-old explained.

“That will be father of the bride or Nightmare on Elm street,” he added with a laugh.

“It’s going to be a bit of fun.”

Kochie and his wife Libby have four adult children and eight grandchildren.

The wedding came after the breakfast TV host told her about her UK-based daughter’s engagement when she shared the happy news last year.

Kochie took to social media in September to say he couldn’t wait to welcome Alex into his growing family.

“When your baby girl gets engaged,” Kochie wrote in the announcement post on Instagram.

“Congratulations to Georgie and ‘The German’ aka Alex… We are so happy for you both.”
