Monaco’s palace has consistently denied media reports of a rift between Charlene and royal ruler Prince Albert, who married in 2011, after the princess was long absent.

“He was clearly exhausted, physically and emotionally. He was overwhelmed and unable to cope with official duties, life in general or even family life,” Albert told People magazine in November.

Zimbabwean-born daughter Charlene was hospitalized after collapsing in September in South Africa, where she has been staying for several months.

He underwent surgery in October for an ear, nose and throat infection after checking in under a pseudonym at a Durban hospital, palace sources said at the time.

Friends had previously told Page Six that the mother-of-two had ‘nearly died’ while she was in her home country, while her husband spoke out to say she was suffering from ‘exhaustion, both emotional and physical’.

Charlene is now back in Monaco, though she hasn’t returned to royal events yet.
