Sonic The Hedgehog 2 star Colleen O’Shaughnessey shares the voice actor’s appreciation of Tails’s expression.
Blue Vengeance returns to protect humanity Sonic The Hedgehog 2, which will be released in theaters on April 8, and its package has grown for the sequel. While Sonic (Ben Schwartz, Parks and recreation) and Tom (James Marsden, Westworld) get even closer after the last movie, all the Tails’s favorite guy (played by actress Colleen O’Shaughnessey) has entered the scene – and so has the Knuckles’s favorite enemy (Idris Elba, The Suicide Squad).
O’Shaughnessey already had the opportunity to play Tails in the video game, and we talked to her about the biggest differences when it comes to playing him on the big screen.
Screen Rant: I just have to look at the first one Sonic film. When you see this post-credit scene, what goes through your mind?
Colleen O’Shaughnessey: Well, apart from the fact that everyone was screaming in the theater, it was so exciting to see his little feet coming in. People knew it as soon as they saw the feet. It was like, “Yes!” It was triumphant. Awesome.
There is a lot of talk about vocal actors on the big screen. How did you feel when you saw the fans get so excited when they announced you?
Colleen O’Shaughnessey: It’s overwhelming, truly wonderful. I feel so much love right now. And yes, as a voice actor waiting to be completely replaced, it was a really great moment. Not just for me. for the whole voiceover community, I think it really is a big, huge win.
Do you play this role differently than you would in the previous times when you expressed Tails’s voice? Because it’s a bit of an origin story, at least for the relationship between Tails and Sonic. Does this change the way you approach anything?
Colleen O’Shaughnessey: I think the only difference is that, yes, it’s more about the situation. As for how I get character or something, it stays the same. They are still Tails. It just faces different conditions and is at the beginning of a relationship as opposed to one that is already established.
We have this great script and this great director guiding you through it, and you leave.
Sonicit’s all about going fast. What is the fastest way to say yes to a role?
Colleen O’Shaughnessey: That, right away.
How did it go? We did a small workshop. For their part, I have no idea. I never do. As an actor, you have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. I was just excited that they were thinking of using me, because I was usually substituting a celebrity. But it was fascinating and fascinating. Yes!
What is the key to Tails voice? Teach me something.
Colleen O’Shaughnessey: Okay, I think you have to think of a little boy. I just go to a deeper place in my log and add a little gravel and a little excitement. And go. There are Tails! Yes, there it is.
We seem to be on our way to a big movie universe with Sonic. Do you see yourself continuing to play queues as much as you can? Is there anything you would like to see in a future movie we haven’t seen yet?
Colleen O’Shaughnessey: I will do it as long as they have me. I would love to see Amy come in sometime.
I do not know, I’m so excited to see what they have cooked because I know these things are going on. And I’m always the last to know, but I’m looking forward to seeing what they think. Because they are so smart and they are so smart about the way they have done all this so far. I look forward to seeing where it goes.
As someone who has lived in this world for a while, is there an Easter egg in this movie that fans should really watch out for?
Colleen O’Shaughnessey: This is such a difficult question, because I do not want to spoil it for anyone!
The scene of the temple. I will just say the temple. Keep your eyes out for the temple.
