Another helpful tip is to invest in larger pieces of art as smaller photos don’t fill up the space on your wall properly.

Another mistake that a lot of people make is leaving the wires exposed under their TV. Failing to hide this can make a room look cluttered.

The fourth tip is an easy everyday task that can make all the difference – to get rid of wrinkled sheets.

Ironing the wrinkles off the sheets and making the bed properly can make all the difference to the look of your room.

Finally, Krishnan advises against using outdated lighting fixtures and curtains that don’t hang to the floor.

Opting for extra-long curtains and hanging them high above your window will give the illusion of being taller and therefore more space in the room.
