Helen Mirren’s stepson Rio Hackford dies aged 52

Actor and owner of the Rio Del Valle club Hackford, who has appeared in films and TV shows including Jonah Hex, swing player, vibration and Mandaloriandied Thursday in Huntington Beach, California, at the age of 52.

Hackford’s stepmother is a British actress Helen Mirren.

His brother Alex Hackford said he died after becoming ill.

Rio Hackford, the son of director Taylor Hackford, is remembered by his friends for being a “connector of all kinds of people,” said his friend, screenwriter DV DeVincentis.

“Not only is he obsessed with films and how they reflect and compel, he’s something more: a huge fan of countless scenes, certain moves of unsung actors, bizarre career shifts, roaring comebacks, cinematic goose tunes, “DeVincentis write on Instagram.

Hackford is known for the joie de vivre and generosity of the artists at his clubs including the Matador and One-Eyed Jacks in New Orleans, where he also owns the Pal’s Lounge. One-Eyed Jacks is a popular venue for alternative action, and is reopening in a new location after being closed during the pandemic.

In San Francisco, he owns the Homestead, and in Los Angeles he renovated Monty’s bar just west of downtown.

“He was a great magnet for creative people, with a way like Zelig could create biographical pages. He loved the alchemy of personality and talent, and was one of the great facilitators of this,” continued DeVincentis.

In Mandalorian she is a performer on the droid set IG-11, voiced by Taiki Waititi.

Most recently, he served as a manager at Pam & Tommy.

Hackford has small appearances in movies like playing addicts in Beautiful woman and a bartender at Strange day before appearing as Skully in swing player. The character Skully, with whom Sue was familiar, was known as the “House of Pain” or “Hip Hop” in the 90s indie favorite.

In the Western supernatural Jonah Hex he played Graydon Nash, and on the New Orleans-set vibration he’s Toby in some episodes.

He has also directed music videos for acts including Josh Homme’s Desert Sessions and Corrosion of Conformity.

He left behind his wife, musician Libby Grace; two children; brother Alex; his father; and stepmother Helen Mirren.
