Earlier this month it was revealed that the Grown Ups star “had no plans” to contact Will Smith after the actor issued an official apology for slapping him at the Academy Awards.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air actor, 53, said via Instagram that he had taken the last four months to ‘work on’ himself after hitting Chris at the Oscars in March.

A source has since reported the comedian is currently unprepared to rekindle the friendship and said Will’s apology was simply an attempt to improve his public image.

An insider told ET Online: ‘Chris has no plans to contact Will’, before adding, ‘He [Will] need a public pardon, not Chris’.

Via Instagram, the King Richard actor said in his apology: “I’ve contacted Chris and the message back is that he’s not ready to talk when he’s ready, he’ll be in touch.”

‘So I’m going to tell you, Chris, I’m sorry to you. My behavior is unacceptable and I am here whenever you are ready to speak.’

He also apologized to Chris’ mother and the rest of his family.
