The two big names who joined The Block’s 2022 season were forced out of the competition just three days after filming.
The Block had been rocked by family tragedy in its first week of filming, with one of the show’s star pairs forced to withdraw from the competition after some disturbing personal news.
As reported by Daily Telegraphinfluencer Elle Ferguson and her fiancé, former AFL player Joel Patfull, had to withdraw as contestants after Patfull’s mother suffered a severe fall.
Patfull, a former GWS Giants, and fashion and beauty blogger Ferguson have reportedly traveled to Adelaide, where Patfull’s mother Trish is receiving treatment for a possible brain haemorrhage, fractured tailbone and fractured wrist.
Ferguson took to social media with a post telling of the sudden change of plans, stating: “Family always comes first”
“Wherever you are in the world. Whatever you do. Family always comes first,” she posted to her story with a picture of a trolley of packed baggage at Melbourne airport.
Powerful couple Ferguson and Patfull registered to join Block take on the role of the highest-profile contestant along with an ex Neighbor star Sharon Johal and her husband Ankur Dogra.
Influencer and entrepreneur Ferguson has 680,000 followers on Instagram, and has his own self-tanned range, the Elle Effect.
Meanwhile, Pattful, who retired from the AFL in 2016, works as head of operations for Elle Effect and owns the Lost Athletes lineup.
The couple got engaged in 2017.
Last week, it was confirmed that for the first time, a home renovation reality show was heading out of town to Victoria’s Macedon Ranges, near the town of Gisborne.
Block Tree Change will feature new contestants traveling to the Victoria region to be trapped in their buildings.
Host Scott Cam will also be renovating his own house Block property for the first time.
It comes on the back of a controversial Fans vs Faves season marred by the biggest cheating scandal in the show’s history after one team shared photos from a secret production schedule.
