Amy Schumer has revealed that she received death threats over a controversial joke she told at the Academy Awards last month.

Schumer’s pretense that Kirsten Dunst was a seat filler at the Oscars led to death threats “so bad” that the Secret Service got involved, the comedian told Howard Stern on his radio show.
“I got death threats,” he explained. “The Secret Service contacted me.”
“They were so bad that the Secret Service reached out, yes, about it,” claims Schumer. “I was like, ‘I think you have the wrong number. This is Amy, not Will [Smith]. You must have the wrong number.’”
“Not that I want Will to get death threats, but the hatred of women is unbelievable.”
“They’re that serious and that much,” he added when Stern expressed his doubts.

The LAPD did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
Schumer clarified to Stern that all of his pranks were executed by the target before the awards ceremony took place.
The 40-year-old comedian responded to the reaction he received for the joke days after the Oscar ceremony.
“Hey, I appreciate the love for Kirsten Dunst. I love him too! It was the choreography part that he did,” Schumer wrote on his Instagram story. “Wouldn’t underestimate the queen like that.”
Schumer joked at the 94th Academy Awards that Dunst, who sat with her husband and “Power of the Dog” co-star Jesse Plemons, was a seat filler.
“It’s a seat filler,” Schumer says to the camera, explaining the concept to viewers. “Honey, do you want to go to the bathroom?”
The comedian then sat down in Dunst’s place and struck up a conversation with Plemons.
“Jesse, I love you in Dog Power, said Schumer. Plemons replied, “You know, that’s my wife, Amy.”
“You married that seat filler?” he answered.
Fans were quick to take to Twitter to criticize the comedian’s jokes.
“Kirsten Dunst did NOT set fire to a yacht at 11 to have Amy Schumer call it seat filler!” wrote one user.
“please don’t ever invite amy Schumer to an awards show again…why does she use ukraine and trans as a joke..and then mention Kirsten Dunst as filling the seat in front of her husband? oh he needs SMACK,” another user chimed in.
“Don’t forget Amy Schumer removed Kirsten Dunst, Academy-nominated actor, from her chair & dubbed it a bit of a ‘chair filler’. I’m so tired of jokes that sacrifice women. The whole show is cheap. Booo,” added another user.
Dunst was nominated in the best supporting actress category for her performance in Dog Power.
